The 2017 Prazo de Roriz is a blend of 35% Touriga Franca, 25% Touriga Nacional, 20% Tinta Roriz and 20% mixed grapes, all aged for six monthsin used French oak. It comes in at 14.2% alcohol. Seeming likejust-crushed fruit, this is remarkably concentrated for the level, without being jammy. Expressive, fruit forward and still supported bygood structure, this is a big, ripe and rather dramatic Prazo this year. The fruit does have a certain warmth to it. That doesn't mean heat, tobe clear, but ripeness. It is not always the most lifted fruit on thefinish. However, this certainly tastes great and has some sex appeal. The price is right for the big finish and flavor. At the moment, youmight like it even better than the score suggests. It would be nice ifit could develop a bit more finesse with a year in the cellar, but ifyou're looking for one to cellar, the producer's Post Scriptum (reviewedthis issue as well) would be a better choice.
"Aromas of dark plums, baked blueberries, violet essence, cloves and sweet tobacco. It's full-bodied with firm, chewy tannins and brightacidity. Intense, yet fresh, with pretty layers of dark fruit, flowersand spice. Some bitter berries on the finish. Blend of 35% tourigafranca, 25% touriga nacional, 20% tinta roriz and 20% field blend. Drinknow or hold"
Reifes Bouquet, rote und blaue Beerenaromen, Süssholz, Gewürznoten. Saftig und robust am Gaumen, gute Fülle und mit feinen Tanninen. Bietet viel Genuss zu einem attraktiven Preis.
