"The 2016 Chianti Classico Riserva is a beautiful wine that does an excellent job of stringing together the many varied components of whatmakes a great Chianti Classico and puts them all together in a singlebottle. The wine is balanced and intense with a long bouquet that startsoff with black primary fruit and then trails off into a continuum ofspice, leather, tar and tilled earth. There are many levels to considerhere. The mouthfeel is equal parts structured, fresh and succulent, andthese three factors fit together with precision. This is a terrific wineand one that I will readily drink with a grilled veal steak with myfavorite roasted potatoes. The blend is 80% Sangiovese and 20% Merlot."

Brancaia liegt mitten im Herzen der Region Chianti Classico mit den beiden Weingütern Brancaia und Poppi. Gegründet wurde Brancaia 1981 von den Besitzern Brigitte und Bruno Widmer. Inzwischen werden die beiden Domainen von Tochter Barbara Widmer geführt und gehören längst zu den Vorzeigeunternehmen der Toskana. Ihr Top-Wein IL BLU ist unter den Spitzenweinen Italiens nicht mehr wegzudenken und gilt heute bereits als Klassiker.
