Last year I tasted an older vintage of their white, and this time I encountered the 2013 Aigua de Llum, an unusual blend of 80% Viognier(from the Mas d'en Porrera estate) that is a blend of 15% GarnachaBlanca and a 5% made up of Macabeo, Escanyavella and Moscatel. Right nowthe élevage dominates the nose and the aromas of exotic fruits and syrupare in the background. Even in a cooler vintage like 2013 this winereaches 15.5% alcohol so it comes through as a warm, Mediterraneaneffort that is quite well-built and offers very ripe flavors and evendeveloping some honeyed notes. This might not be as long lived as thefantastic 2006. This vintage produced 1,365 bottles.

Gegründet wurde Celler Vall Llach 1996 vom bekannten Liedermacher Luís Llach und dem Notar Enric Costa. Die rund 38 Hektaren umfassenden alten Rebberge sind mehrheitlich mit Cariñena und Garnacha bepflanzt. Im Rebbau setzen die qualitätsbewussten Besitzer auf integrierte Produktion. Seit 2012 führt Enric Costas Sohn Albert das Weingut.
